I have 35 hours coming up. Seriously.
14 on the main campus; 13 on two branches;
and now 16 (paid as 8) for the writing center.
No wonder I want to go back to bed.

Yuck! How can you do the work for 16 and get paid for 8? That's not right! Unless you really enjoy it...

Great Q, MC; it works like this:
565 per hour x 8 hours / 160 hours per quarter = 28.25 per hour, any way I want to schedule it.
They don't want to pay 56.50 when I won't have a "prep" (which includes both prep time for the class and grading time for exams and papers). 56.50 an hour per class may sound like a lot until you put 3-4 hours of prep in. Oh, and no benifits.
True, they're getting me for a little over 13k a year to run the WC, but technically I only show for 480 hours, 12/52 working weeks a year. Plus, I hope to build the darn thing into a _real_ WC with _real_ wages soon enough.
Plus, this way, I can still teach.
