Big Brother IS Watching

Have you tried Google Maps yet?
Please do.
They have access to some satellite now [?].
Type in "Pizza in ______ (your home town)."
Or your own address.

Further, read up on cameras used in Chicago, New Orleans, DC, ect.
Traffic intersections.

Why is outside surveillance so much more scary than
the inside surveillance we've put up with for years?

Yeah, a couple weeks ago I played around with the satellite thing. I discovered that my dad's truck was not at home. Over by my barn, they were loading horses up in the trailer. I am 75% certain I know which horses were turned out in the paddocks. At a competing barn, I was able to see the jumper course they had set (which has a few interesting lines) and that a horse was riding it. From the length of the shadows, I'm guessing the jumps were set about 2' high.

Someone was carting around on the golf course.

Question: do I need to know all these things? Even if it is just a one moment snapshot and the pictures are three years old?

wait--hold the phone!

you were able to see in THAT much detail??

and who says the pics are 3 years old? what difference would that really make? or, what would be the purpose then?

if you have the info, cough it up.

Yeah, it seems creepy - until you do a check to see how current the sky-cam shots are.

A year and a half ago, construction workers turned the empty lot next to my apt complex into a hotel.

When I google mapped my house, there was still an empty lot next door.

...So it's not like you can use this to make sure your spouse is at work before you drop by the hotel for the fling with your undercover lover.

Somewhere on the maps they said the pictures were taken in 2002.

Oh... ok, it wasn't google. It was Microsoft's TerraFirma, which uses the same images but goes down to a 1-mile view. (google doesn't go quite that far in my area).

It's not that the details are *that* clear, it's that I know enough about the barns to use what I can see to piece everything together.

I think I'd be more upset about it if I were the competing barn. They have an interesting course set up, and anyone can go along and steal the design. Ha! Single, roll-back to the outside, end fence, bending line? Sweet!
