Cycles
Let me tell you what I find facinating about personal journals and letters: cycles. For example, while cleaning out some papers (how I loath that job) I found a letter from my partner from 4 years ago in March.
It could have been written yesterday.

I find myself cycling from self-confident to insecure back to self-confident. It's maddening! What if some wonderful opportunity comes up and I miss it because I am in one of my insecure periods --perhaps you know the feeling, like you are going to be found out, that you aren't as bright or competent as the image you project...or am I the only one that feels that way?
I have cycles of enthusiasm for something, slowing down, stop, enthusiasm for something else. Maybe more and different cycles, too. Have to check. This is an interesting thought!

The endless cycle of housework and clothes washing and eating food and sleeping..
I find myself constantly on spin cycle, and pretty much enjoying it! :)
